accommodation
There is accommodation on campus for approximately 120 students at Easton College, comprising of single-occupancy rooms, some with en-suite facilities. Living-in should be seriously considered if you live some distance from College, or have transport issues. By living on-site you will be part of a unique community, and one in which we hope you will want to actively participate. At the beginning of each year a student committee is elected and in conjunction with a team of Residential Staff they will plan and co-ordinate a series of social activities both on and off the campus.
The full cost of a room is £87.00 (£135.00 per week - ensuite) a week and includes all meals. Residential bursaries may be available to help meet the cost of living in. Please contact the Student Information Centre for more information. Students will need to bring their own bed linen with them. A laundry service is available at a small cost on-site. Electrical items may be brought onto campus but they will need to pass inspection in order to remain in your room.
The College adheres to care standards set out by OFSTED for residential colleges. The welfare and happiness of residential students, particularly those under 18 who are living away for the first time, is of paramount importance at all times. We actively encourage parents to be a part of this process, and the Head of Student Services is happy to talk to students and/or parents at any time about any issues regarding accommodation.
In addition to the Residential Staff the College appoints Floor Reps. These are students who are returning to accommodation for a second or third year, so they are familiar with the surroundings and rules and regulations. They perform a “mentor” role, helping new students settle in and feel as comfortable as possible.
The College aims to provide a varied social calendar including discos, karaoke nights, quizzes and formal events such as The Christmas Ball and themed Summer Ball, which are fantastic evenings.
Residential Staff aim to improve the quality of your life whilst studying at Easton by providing support in many ways such as social activities or by providing support with personal issues, money manegement etc.
The College refectory, situated in the Sports Centre, provides three meals a day for residential students. Non-residents may also use these facilities. Wherever possible, special dietary requirements will be catered for. The Sports and Conference Centre also operates a snack bar serving rolls and bar snacks on a daily basis, and there are various vending machines situated around the campus enabling you to get cold drinks and snacks.
After an induction students are free to use the Sports Centre Gymnasium during off-peak times. There are a variety of games played in the sports hall during the evenings and weekends. All students receive free membership of the Sports and Conference Centre, although there will be an initial charge of £10 for the induction.
Higher education students/full-time foundation degree students are also welscome to apply for college accommodation. The college owns houses in the village providing self-catering facilities in tradtional family houses, with 5-6 single study bedrooms. The full cost of a room is £55.00 per week (including utility bills of electricty and gas/oil). All students are eligible to apply for college accommodation, although in the event of excess demand for places priority is likely to be given to students from the greatest distance.
Residential staff can also be advise of other privately owned/rented accommodation available in the vacinity.
