Easton College

Facilities

Sizeable investment has been made to facilities at Easton College in the last few years. Our main teaching block, the Jubilee Building, houses classrooms, laboratories, demonstration rooms and IT suites. It is also home to the Student Information Centre, the first point of call for any prospective or existing students who require information, advice and guidance. Phase 2 of this development, completed in September 2006, and phase 3 finished in February 2010 includes an enhanced learning resources centre, lecture theatre and additional state-of-the-art classrooms, giving the College some of the most up-to-date facilities in the region.

Our current Learning Resource Centre provides the ideal environment in which to enhance your learning. There are computers in the Centre for student use with access to multimedia facilities, the internet and email.

Within the centre is the College Library, which has a comprehensive collection of books, magazines, periodicals and literature to complement your studies. There are links with other libraries, most notably the University of East Anglia (UEA), our partner for the College’s Higher Education work.

Our Sports and Conference Centre has an air-conditioned gymnasium featuring resistance weights, free weights and cardio-vascular machines. The large sports hall is used for a wide range of activities, both of a sporting and enrichment nature, from aerobics and trampolining to badminton, cricket and football. Linked to the Sports Centre is the sports field, comprising 2 full-size football pitches, outdoor tennis/netball/football courts and ample training grounds. The college also has 8 indoor tennis courts within the tennis centres as well as a 3G Pitch suitable for rugby and football.

The sports centre is where you will find the refectory serving a wide range of hot and cold meals throughout the day and the College bar, which is open every evening for students (over 18 rules apply for alcohol). Other catering outlets can be found at the equestrian centre, in the Jubilee Building and within the Skills Block.

Other facilities at the College include the Bacon Centre, a state-of-the-art equestrian and animal welfare centre. The equestrian side consitis of indoor and outdoor olympic sized arenas, internal and external stabling, a solarium, a horse walker and horse simulator. The animal welfare centre hosts classrooms, a dog grooming parlour, facilities for a cattery, a veterinary operating theatre and an x-ray room. The Animal Care Centre has an extensive range of animals including reptiles, aquatics, birds and small mammals.

The College Farm grows a range of arable crops and comprises a dairy unit, pig demonstration unit, sheep flock and poultry facilities. There is a fully operational deer park, which was planned and built by students and underlines the College’s commitment to diversification.
