BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA in Agriculture



Level 3 qualification


Duration:


2 years full-time.


Entry requirements:
4 Full GCSEs at grades A-C (Science at grade A-C) or First Diploma (normally merit overall) or National Award or BTEC first certificate (merit overall) plus 2 GCSEs grade D-G or other level 2 qualifications.



This course carries the same UCAS points weighting and is equivalent to studying 3 A Levels. It is a broad-based course for those individuals looking to pursue a career in Agriculture. It will develop Agricultural skills which will provide access to a wide range of employment of higher education opportunities. Assessment is by a combination of assignments, practical assessments, case studies and short examinations. Year one is spent becoming familiar with day-to-day crop, livestock and mechanised tasks. Year two builds on the experiences of the first year and applies this to business management concepts and decision making. Additional qualifications are offered in a range of practical areas such as tractor driving, fork-lift truck operation and use of pesticides.

Financial Information:
If you are under 19 on 31 August 2009, and are resident in the UK, you do not have to pay tuition or examination fees. For mature students, the tuition fee is £1224.00 per year and the examination fee is £153.00 for the year 08/09.
