Entry Requirements: 
Candidates must either have 4 full GCSEs at grades D-G (English or Science at grade D) or NVQ Level 1 plus 2 GCSEs grade D-G or Level 1 qualification normally Merit profile overall plus 2 key skills.

The Course:
This course provides a firm foundation in a broad range of skills required to either take up employment in the Animal Care industry or to continue training.
Teaching and assessment is by a mixture of lectures, practical instruction, group discussion, individual or group assignments and work experience.

You will gain practical skills in aspects of small and farm animal care and welfare, equipping you with the necessary skills to gain employment within the industry.  You will also gain ‘hands-on’ experience in the form of a work placement. 

Course Content:
Animal Accommodation Handling & Care, Animal Health, Welfare and Behaviour, British habitats, Animal Nursing, Introduction to Biology, Industrial Experience, Industry and Organisations, Employability Skills, Key Skills. Other optional units are available and alter each year.

Progression:
Dependant on the achievement routes could be: National Diploma in Animal Management, Countryside Management or Agriculture depending on achieving individual course entry requirements. Apprenticeships and Employment.

Equipment Required:
Writing materials, Work coat, Overalls and Safety boots.

Financial Information:
16 – 18 Year Old learners born on or before 31st August 2010 and have been resident in the UK for the last three years you do not have to pay tuition or examination fees.

19+ learners will be liable to pay all fees but help towards the cost of the course may be available.

The current tuition fees are £1250, with registration fee of £109.  If you are required to pay, ALL course related tuition and examination fees are payable at the time of enrolment by cash, cheque or credit/debit card.
