NVQ Level 2 Mixed Farming

 Entry Requirements: 
The normal requirements for the course are an aptitude and interest in mechanised crop and livestock production and employment on an arable and livestock farm. 

The Course:
A National Vocational Qualification is a work-based qualification which provides candidates with training and assessment relevant to their current employment or work placement, enabling them to reach a certain level of competence and knowledge required by the industry.  There is access to up-to-date machinery and tuition by experienced staff at College, and training which involves a mix of practical and theory plus individual support to build up a portfolio of evidence.  The course is assessed by portfolio building and assessments whilst on placement.  Evidence can include photographs, witness sheets and drawings. Candidates are paid as usual by their employer whilst at College.

College Attendance:
Ten blocks x 3 days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) per year over approximately 18 to 24 months.  There will also be some additional livestock days. Usually commences in September, but can be started at other times.

Course Content:
Transporting supplies of physical resources, health & safety, cleaning and cultivating sites, maintaining effective working practices, preparing and operating a tractor, maintaining and operating machinery, provide feed and water, key skills, additional qualifications (emergency first aid plus one other), 4 optional units. 

Progression:
NVQ Level 3 Extensive Mixed Farming.  National Diploma in Agriculture.

Equipment Required:
Steel toe-capped safety boots, boiler suit and writing materials.

Financial Information:
16 – 18 Year Old Students – if you are aged between 16 and 18 on 31st August 2007 and have been resident in the UK for the last three years you do not have to pay tuition or examination fees.

19+ Students without a Full Level 2 Qualification - if you are 19 or over, do not have a full level 2 qualification, have been resident in the UK for the last three years and complete the form confirming your qualification status you do not have to pay tuition or exam fees.

19+ with a Full Level 2 Qualification or Higher - if you are 19+ you will be required to pay the tuition and exam fees for the course, as listed below.

The current tuition/course fees are £469, with £110 examination fee. If you are required to pay, ALL course related tuition and examination fees for this course are payable at the time of enrolment by cash, cheque or credit/debit card.
