NVQ Level 2 Agricultural Crop Production

1 day per week for 1 year

Entry Requirements: 
The normal requirements for the course are an aptitude and interest in mechanised crop production and an appropriate work experience placement or employment on an arable farm. 

The Course:
A National Vocational Qualification is a work-based qualification which provides candidates with training and assessment relevant to their current employment or work placement, enabling them to reach a certain level of competence and knowledge required by the industry.  Access to up-to-date machinery and tuition by experienced staff at College, and training which involves a mix of practical and theory plus individual support to build up a portfolio of evidence.  The course is assessed by portfolio building and assessments whilst on placement.  Evidence can include photographs, witness sheets and drawings.

Course Content:
Health and safety, machinery operation, crop establishment, cultivations, maintaining crop growth, harvesting crops, key skills(including application of number, communication and information technology), additional qualifications(emergency first aid plus one other).

Progression:
NVQ Level 3 Extensive Crop Production.  National Diploma in Agriculture.

Financial Information:
16 – 18 Year Old Students – if you are aged between 16 and 18 on 31st August 2007 and have been resident in the UK for the last three years you do not have to pay tuition or examination fees.

19+ Students without a Full Level 2 Qualification - if you are 19 or over, do not have a full level 2 qualification, have been resident in the UK for the last three years and complete the form confirming your qualification status you do not have to pay tuition or exam fees.

19+ with a Full Level 2 Qualification or Higher - if you are 19+ you will be required to pay the tuition and exam fees for the course, as listed below.

The current tuition/course fees are £469, with £110 examination fee. If you are required to pay, ALL course related tuition and examination fees for this course are payable at the time of enrolment by cash, cheque or credit/debit card.
