Easton College Courses : Part Time
NVQ Level 3 Agricultural Crop Production



Ten blocks x 2 days  per year over approximately 18 to 24 months


Entry Requirements: 
Candidates should normally have experience in crop production up to apprenticeship - NVQ Level 2 standard, and need employment on an arable farm.  Previous GCSE level study in Maths, English and IT would be an advantage.


The Course:
A national vocation qualification is a work based qualification which provides candidates with training and assessment relevant to their current employment or work placement, enabling them to reach a certain level of competence and knowledge required by the industry.   The programme is assessed by means of portfolio building, work placement assessments and technical certificate external tests. Key skills in numeracy, literacy and IT are an integral part of the course.  Candidates are paid as usual by their employer when at College.


Course Content:
Health and safety, machinery operation, cultivation equipment, crop establishment, maintaining crop growth, crop harvesting equipment, technical certificates, key skills and additional qualifications (emergency first aid plus 2 others).


Progression:
Supervisory Management qualifications.  Foundation Degree Courses.


Equipment Required:
Steel toe-capped boots, boiler suit and writing materials.


Financial Information:
16 – 18 Year Old Students – if you are aged between 16 and 18 on 31st August 2007 and have been resident in the UK for the last three years you do not have to pay tuition or examination fees.



19-24 Year Old Students without a Full Level 3 Qualification - if you are aged 19 to 24, do not have a full level 3 qualification, have been resident in the UK for the last three years and complete the form confirming your qualification status you do not have to pay tuition or exam fees.


Students aged 25 and over will be required to pay the tuition and exam fees for the course, as listed below.


The current tuition/course fees are £469, with £115 examination fee. If you are required to pay, ALL course related tuition and examination fees for this course are payable at the time of enrolment by cash, cheque or credit/debit card.
