Poultry Production NVQ Level 2 - Apprenticeship
1 day per week for 1 year
Entry Requirements:
There are no formal requirements although candidates should be employed within the industry.Prospective students are invited to visit the College for a personal discussion with the course tutor to assess how the course can assist towards their intended career.
The Course:
A national vocational qualification is a work-based qualification which provides candidates with training and assessment relevant to their current employment , enabling them to reach a certain level of competence and knowledge required by the industry. Students will learn on the job skills necessary for tasks such as caring for livestock of all ages, operating tractors and machinery, keeping records and working in a team.
Continuous assessment will be covered by portfolio building, farm assessments, collection of evidence of carrying out the required tasks detailed in the NVQ, eg. photographs, copies of records, feed programmes, veterinary health guidelines, and farm assessments.
Course Content:
Stockmanship, health and disease management, feeding and nutrition, housing, management of breeding stock, record keeping, associated machinery, finishing and rearing stock, and key skills.
Progression:
NVQ Level 3 Poultry Production Advanced Apprenticeship - National Diploma in Agriculture.
Equipment Required:
Steel toe-capped boots, boiler suit and writing materials.
