NPTC Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants
Starts 28th September 2010
Every Tuesday for 28 weeks


Entry Requirements: 
There are no formal requirements but a general knowledge of dogs would be an advantage.


In addition a suitable level of literacy and numeracy is required in order to enable candidates to research the underpinning knowledge and complete the assessments.


The Course:
This 28 week programme is suitable for candidates who wish to enter the dog grooming industry or build on existing skills.


Course Content:


Unit and assessment type:
1 Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing (Multiple Choice Online Test)
2 Bathe and Clean dogs (Written and Practical Assessment)
3 Clean and maintain equipment used for grooming or removing hair from animals (Written and Practical Assessment)
4 Control and restrain animals (Written and Practical Assessment)
5 Dry dogs and prepare their coats for styling (Written and Practical Assessment)
6 Basic trimming of a dogs coat (Written and Practical Assessment)
7 Maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment (Written and Practical Assessment)


Progression:
NPTC Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming.
 
Equipment Required:
Pencil and notepad. Students should dress appropriately for working within the Dog Grooming Parlour.(Flat shoes, hair tied back, no jewellery).


Financial Information
For students aged 16-18 course fees are £1613.00.
For Students over 19 course fees will be £556.00 (candidates over 19 will be eligible for fee remission).
All students will need to pay a registration fee of £75.00.
