Easton College Courses : Full Time
BTEC FIRST DIPLOMA in Land-based Engineering



Entry Requirements: 
Four full GCSEs at grades D-G (Science at grade D) or NVQ Level 1 plus
2 GCSEs grade D-G or Level 1 qualification normally Merit profile overall plus
2 key skills.


The Course:
This First Diploma course covers a wide range of material related to land-based mechanisation.  This includes the operation, repair and maintenance of vehicles such as tractors, combine harvesters, ATV’s (quad bikes) and utility vehicles. Further courses are offered which lead to other qualifications in a range of practical areas recognised by the industry, such as driving tractors, lift trucks or ATV’s. 


Course Content:
Machinery operations, maintenance and repair, workshop skills,                           principles of machinery, engine systems, vehicle technology, key skills & work experience.


Progression:
National Diploma in Land-based Technology or Agriculture, Apprenticeship or Employment.


Equipment Required:
Workwear including safety boots. Writing materials. Full details given at interview.


Financial Information:
If you are under 19 on 31 August 2010, and are resident in the UK, you do not have to pay tuition or examination fees.  For mature students, the tuition fee is £1250.00 per year and the examination fee is £109.00 for the year 09/10.  Help with fees up to the full cost of the course may be available.
