Easton College is a specialist college, and the programmes offered at Easton College are currently in 3 distinct curriculum areas:

  • Work in the Countryside with Animals, Plants and Machinery
  • Work in the Sport and Active Leisure industries
  • Preparing to work in the Public and Uniformed Services

Students on Key Stage 4 learning programmes from schools across the county come to Easton College for one day a week.

Easton College programmes all lead to nationally recognised qualifications. The College offers new opportunities for students to try different types of courses and other career options. The College has new teaching facilities, lots of natural space and new resources not found in other colleges offering hands-on experience.

General Information on 14-16 courses at Easton College:

What Times Are The Courses?
Your college day starts at 9.30am, and finishes at 3.30pm for those not using college transport. Those using college transport will be expected to be in class until 4.15pm, most buses leave the campus at 4.45pm

Do I Have To Wear Special Clothes?
Students should come to college suitably dressed for the weather and the activity. Most programmes at Easton College involve working outside or undertaking sports activity. 'Fashion Clothes' are not suitable for a day at Easton College.

What Do I Need To Bring To College?
Protective Clothing as listed below:

  • Agriculture and Horticulture - protective clothing for practical work (overalls and steel toe capped boots). We hope you will bring your own, if not, there is a protective clothing store which you can borrow from on the day you are at college.
  • Horse Care - You should have a BHS approved riding hat, riding boots and gloves to use when you are undertaking practical sessions in the yard.
  • Sport and public services - You should bring clothes and equipment suitable for taking part in practical sporting activities.
  • Lunch/money to purchase lunch
  • Pens, Pencils and Paper
  • A watch! Students are expected to arrive on time for class. There are no bells at college.

What Do I Do About Lunch?
Students can bring a packed lunch or buy a hot meal, salad or snack in the refectory or other eating-places around the campus.

Will I Meet Other Students From Other High Schools?
Yes. There are usually students from at least 10 high schools at college on any day. Nearly all the classes have a mix of students from different schools.

What Is It Like At College? Can I Look Around Before I Decide?
There will be opportunities in the Autumn and Spring Terms for school groups to come to Easton College to have a look round and meet some of the staff. Your school will have information about this.
If you come for an interview, your parents/carers are welcome to come and look round and discuss the programme content and progression with college staff. Bring your family and friends to Easton College Open Day on the first Sunday in June.

What Do I Do Next?
If you have seen a course to would like to join, talk to your teacher to discuss this choice. If you are sure Easton College has a programme suitable for you, complete an application form (downloadable from the college website or contact the college for one to be posted). The form must be signed by your parent/carer, pass the completed form to your form tutor. Your school will then send the form to Easton College and we will arrange an interview.
